Brr! So after yanking hard on the cord attached to the front curving parts of the sled, and not getting any turning power, it was on to Plan B-Use your feet! To gain speed, you rest your feet inside the wooden rings...to turn, pull a foot out on the side you want to turn (turn right, bring out right foot) and start digging your heel in the snow. You learn real fast how much pressure to apply! Break too hard and you spin out and crash or maybe break your leg. Break too little and it's just a snow stream into your face. The cord was basically a keeper cord to hold onto the sled after you crashed, of which we all did numerous times! It's hard to breathe with so much snow shooting up your nose and mouth!

I videoed some of the descent down, if you'd like to see it as I can't figure out how to get video on this blog yet...there's much uncontrollable giggling and swearing on it!
