IT POURS!
Good grief, Charlie Brown! As of this afternoon, I have had 10 (or 11?) interviews and now the job offers are flying. Geesh! (As Pookins would say), or Dzisz! as the Poles would say!
I have somewhat committed to EF (see previous posts) in Wilanow, but am now getting lots of other offers, including real bennies and visas. The schools are scattered all over the Warsaw metro area, and a lot of them feature 'in-company' teaching, where you teach 1 to 8 employees. They're English is usually pretty advanced, so it's mostly conversational, based on current news events, WSJ and other periodicals. They mostly want a real native speaker, and they like that I've worked with such big companies as The North Face, AT&T, Bank of America, Washington Mutual and lil' ol' REI.
Well, of course after I get home from my 5th interview this week, the phone rings again. This time its Angloschool. This is a school that I was very interested in earlier (along with 3 other big-namers) but never heard from them. This woman was so interested that, due to my schedule tomorrow (Wednesday) of leaving with ASW's 9th graders to take them climbing at Eagle's Nest, she bumped somebody else out of their interview slot (they're a Pole, not a 'native-speaker') to make a time we could both agree on. WOW.
Anyhoo, stressed and wearing a pickle suit at the moment.
I'll keep you posted!
